What is the IMAT
The IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test) is the official English-language test for admission to Medicine and Surgery and Dentistry degrees taught in English at Italy's public universities.
It is a single test, the same worldwide, held once a year: your score determines admission. You book it on the official Ministry portal, and the exam fee is paid to the university, separately from the preparation course.
The preparation course
We prepare you across every subject on the test, with dedicated teachers for each area: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and logical reasoning. The method combines theory with constant practice on past papers and mock tests, plus lessons on question-solving strategy.
Extensive course: around 140 hours over 12 weeks, Monday to Friday. To reach the exam with solid foundations and time to consolidate.
Intensive course: 4 weeks at full pace (around 6 hours a day). For those preparing over the summer, close to the exam session.
Both courses run in person at our schools in Milan, Florence, Mantua and Turin or live online, from wherever you are. Course materials and e-learning platform access included. Course fee: € 1,960.
Why prepare with us
In a classroom, not just videos
You study in a real school, with teachers in the room and classmates at your level, across our four Italian campuses. Prefer to study remotely? Follow live online: same teachers, same program.
Study where you'll live
In Florence, up to 55 students live on the Padri Scolopi campus, in the same building where they study. Come for the course and, if you wish, stay on campus: accommodation, an international community, and support for living in Italy.
Visa support included
An international student? We guide you through the student visa process: we prepare all the required documents and support you step by step.
And after admission, Italian
Medicine is taught in English, but patients speak Italian and clinical placements happen in Italian. We are first and foremost an Italian language school since 1975: your journey continues with us, from test preparation to the language you'll need as a doctor.

Frequently asked questions
Is the IMAT in English? Do I need Italian to sit it?
The whole test is in English and you don't need Italian to sit it. You'll need Italian later, during the degree: clinical placements with patients are in Italian.
Is the course in person or online?
Both. You can attend in person at one of our schools in Milan, Florence, Mantua and Turin, or live online from anywhere, with the same teachers and the same program.
What's the difference between extensive and intensive?
The extensive course runs around 12 weeks (140 hours, Monday to Friday) and is designed to reach the exam with solid foundations. The intensive runs 4 weeks at full pace, for those preparing close to the exam session.
Is the exam fee included in the course price?
No. The preparation course is separate; the IMAT itself is booked and paid on the university's official portal.
I'm an international student: do you help with the visa?
Yes. We prepare the student visa documents and guide you through the process. If you stay with us, we also offer campus accommodation in Florence.
