Why students from the U.S. come to Italy

American students come to Italy for the classic semester abroad: faculty-led university programs, Renaissance art and history, food and design - and, for many, their own Italian roots. We make the academic side work, so you study in Italian by day and live the country the rest of the time.

Coming with your university or college? Our faculty-led programs bring your whole group to Italy - academics, housing and on-site support handled, with credits ready for your home transcript.

Good to know before you come

Short stays

For visits up to 90 days, U.S. citizens travel to Italy visa-free. Perfect for a summer or a few weeks of immersion.

A semester or a year

For longer study you apply for a study visa at the Italian consulate in the United States. We provide the enrollment certificate and the documents you need.

Credits for your transcript

Through our faculty-led and semester programs - and our U.S. university partners - credits can be ready for your home transcript.

The two paths Americans choose most

The visa-eligible course (semester or year). Our Long-term courses (3 to 12 months, Standard or Light) meet the hour requirements Italian consulates ask for the study visa. We prepare the enrollment certificate and every document for your consulate appointment - see our visa support. Planning medical school in Italy? Many American pre-med students combine Italian with IMAT preparation in Florence.

Payments are handled through Flywire, the platform used by U.S. universities - you pay in dollars, we receive euros, no wire-transfer headaches.

More paths Americans ask us about: a structured gap year in Italy, a semester abroad with credit options, and the certified B1 for Italian citizenship (we are a CELI exam center).

Programs run in Milan, Florence, Mantua and Turin. Accommodation, airport transfer and add-ons are quoted separately. Visa requirements are set by the Italian consulate in your jurisdiction; we provide the academic documentation.
