What the law asks, in plain words
For citizenship by marriage and citizenship by residence (naturalization), Italy requires a certified knowledge of Italian at level B1 or higher. The certificates that meet the Ministry of the Interior requirement are CELI 2 (B1), CILS B1 Cittadinanza and PLIDA B1. We prepare you for all three and, for CELI, the official exam takes place in our own center: you study and certify in the same school.
Many of our citizenship students are Americans with Italian families - preparing the B1 while living in Italy, or before the consulate appointment back home. Wherever you are in the process, the path is the same: reach a solid B1, book the exam, bring the certificate to your application.
