STUDENT AREA · CODICE FISCALE (FORM AA4/8)
Codice Fiscale (Italian tax code) - how to request it from the Agenzia delle Entrate
The codice fiscale is a 16-character alphanumeric code issued free of charge by the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency). It identifies you in every dealing with the Italian administration: you need it for the residence permit, a bank account, a rental contract, a phone SIM and enrolment with the National Health Service.
Recommended
Request the codice fiscale before you leave, at the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country: it saves time on arrival. Alternatively, you can request it in Italy from the Agenzia delle Entrate (procedure below).
