THE SCHOOL · ACCREDITATIONS & RECOGNITION

Accreditations and recognition: the official side.

Italian law does not formally accredit language schools as standalone bodies, so the only good policy here is honesty: we are not "the only government-accredited Italian school", and you should be wary of any language school that claims to be. What gives us a different standing is the institutional context we operate within and the international recognitions that have been granted specifically to us.

Part of Unicollege SSML, a MUR-accredited Italian Higher Institute. Accademia di Italiano operates as part of Unicollege SSML, an Istituto ad Ordinamento Universitario accredited by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR). In practice this means that our long-term students sit alongside a fully fledged university group, recognised by the Italian State: they gain access to the academic infrastructure, the quality system and the institutional standards of recognised Italian higher education, well beyond what an isolated language school can offer. Long-term courses eligible for the study visa. Our long-term Italian courses meet the documentation and minimum-hours requirements (at least 80 lesson hours per month, minimum 16+ weeks) required by Italian consulates for the National Study Visa (D Visa). We issue enrolment certificates valid for the consulate and provide support for the residence permit procedure after arrival. CSN Sweden: school approved since 2007. Since 2007 Accademia di Italiano has been approved by Centrala studiestödsnämnden (CSN), the Swedish national student loans agency: this means Swedish students can use national loans to fund a long-term Italian course with us. The documentation we issue. For every student we issue documentation in the formats that consulates, prefectures, registrars and U.S. study-abroad offices have learned to accept: enrolment certificate, course programme, weekly hours breakdown, attendance report, end-of-course certificate with the CEFR level reached. We have been doing this for over twenty years.

Honest note: earlier statements about "accreditation by the Lombardy Region" and "ESF - European Social Fund" channels are no longer current and have been removed from this page. We prefer to promise less on titles and offer more on the documentation that really works at the consulate and the prefecture.

Want to verify our institutional context?

We are happy to share, on request, the MUR accreditation references and the CSN approval documentation: useful for consulates, U.S. study-abroad offices, scholarship-awarding bodies and Swedish CSN auditors. You will also find the Academic Approval Pack for Faculty-Led programmes.
